Career Description




This position will provide services to elderly and disabled individuals in their homes for Burke and Renville counties.The duties and tasks of this position include: Provide homemaker services, such as housework, laundry and meal preparation. Provide personal care services, such as bathing, dressing, hair, skin, and eye care. Provide non-medical transportation and assist with shopping. Provide companionship services. Provide respite care services for primary caregivers. Follow a specified care plan for each individual client. Provide professional documentation and record keeping.This position also provides parent aide services on a limited, as needed basis.These duties include: Provide and/or nurture parenting skills through demonstration and instruction. Meet with clients in their homes to assess parenting techniques, family interactions, household cleanliness and health hazards. Provide instruction and guidance in budget planning, money management, menu planning, food preparation techniques, planned grocery purchasing and identifying alternative food sources. Provide role modeling through example and demonstration that will build and maintain an atmosphere conducive to effective learning. Supervise visits between parents and children in foster care. Serve as an advocate for the client.Individuals may be required to work beyond the core work hours of 7:30 am - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED and one year of direct care services to special populations; or certification as a Nursing Assistant or Qualified Service Provider status.

The purpose of the Economic Assistance Unit (08-5177) is to assess, analyze, and determine initial and continued eligibility of applicants for a variety of assistance programs by interpreting and applying complex state, federal, and county policies.
