Career Description
At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our people and processes. As the Internal Auditor in the Quality Assurance and Internal Review Division, you will plan, oversee, and organize internal audits. You will have good critical-thinking skills to gather all the available data and make informed decisions. The ideal person for this position will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail with previous experience as a lead auditor. Primary duties associated with this position are as follows: Internal Audit Lead Plan, oversee and organize internal audits. Conduct all aspects of an assigned internal audit to meet NDDOT and Federal priorities. Develop and update audit programs and procedures for new or continuing audit projects. Assist in the bi-annual agency risk assessment to identify areas of risk to include on future audit plans.Audit Testing and Analysis Perform audit testing and analysis in accordance with all applicable professional standards and audit programs. Determine and apply audit testing and analysis, and expand testing as necessary to develop opinions, recommendations and conclusions regarding areas reviewed. Oversee difficult and complex phases of the audit involving research, analysis, and information gathering to determine if audit tests resulted in adequate evidence to support reasonable conclusions. Assist in overseeing the work completed by third-party contractors. Audit Reporting Prepare internal audit reports of a complex nature; communicate results of audit work in compliance with reporting standards, Federal regulations, or contract requirements. Conduct conferences with internal audit clients, program managers or others to report results of audits. Ensure the proper assistance and follow up on internal audit recommendations and implementation. Other Duties as Assigned Assist with related activities, as necessary, to conduct business of the Division and NDDOT. Represent the division at meetings and conferences within delegated authority. Attend or lead scheduled staff meetings. Complete all continuous training requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Statistics, Economics, or other related area with coursework in accounting. Three years of professional auditing experience including functioning as a lead auditor. Requires a class D driver's license for travel to site visits.Preferred Qualifications Certified Internal Auditor Certified Public Accountant Other relevant certificationsRequires satisfactory completion of the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.
