Career Description




Provide scientific support to the State's criminal justice system by use of accepted techniques for analyzing and processing latent print cases.Ensure proper chain of custody by following established protocols. Process evidence for the presence of latent prints using chemical and physical techniques.Preserve developed latent prints through photography, lifting, and other methods.Analyze the quality of latent prints submitted and developed to determine the suitability for comparison purposes.Perform analysis and comparisons of inked and latent finger, palm, and footprints, to known standards.Prepare reports stating conclusions and advise law enforcement, attorneys, and interested parties within the criminal justice system.Participate in formal and on-the-job training in the scientific examination of latent print evidence.Follow all laboratory policies and standard operating procedures.Follow guiding principles of professional responsibility in the forensic workplace.Participate in the proficiency testing program for the disciplines in which the employee is competency tested. Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Forensic Science/Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related natural science from an accredited four-year college or university. Both overall academic record and applicable job experience will be factors for consideration; however, prior job experience will not replace the minimum academic requirement. To qualify as a Forensic Scientist II, a minimum of two years of work experience as a Forensic Scientist in a forensic laboratory is required.Knowledge of/experience with the basic theoretical principles of latent print examination and the methodologies used to analyze and compare latent print evidence. Experience using basic laboratory equipment and photography tools (including digital cameras and image enhancement software).Must be able to maintain accurate records and solve technical problems.Possesses skills necessary to be a successful Forensic Scientist.Ability, demonstrated in previous employment experience or described in personnel records, to establish and maintain effective, harmonious working relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent prioritization, time management, and organization skills, and demonstrate ability to perform standard office tasks and operate standard office equipment.Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.A high level of integrity is required, as well as good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The Administrative Assistant II provides support services to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation including the following shared responsibilities:Primary administrator for the North Dakota Sex Offender Risk Assessment Committee (SORAC). The Senior Claims Adjudicator is responsible for adjudicating Unemployment Insurance claim issues according to Federal and State unemployment laws and agency policies. This includes reviewing information from claimants and employers to determine benefit eligibility, correcting wage information, assigning benefit charge liability, and issuing appropriate determinations. As a point of contact for customer inquiries, you will answer questions and provide guidance regarding reemployment, benefit eligibility, claim filing, denials, payments, public applications, claim status, technical issues, and inquiries from local office staff.The Senior Claims Adjudicator also coordinates activities within various programs (CWC, Wage Transfer, UCFE, UCX, Wage Protest, and TRA) to meet state and federal program requirements and metrics. This includes advising program requirements, coordinating updates, reconciling billing statements, resolving wage discrepancies, and potentially working with local offices and other agency staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

Career Description




The individual in this position will act as a Water Resource Engineer and will provide administration of the programs of the Department of Water Resource's Regulatory Division. The Engineer performs a wide variety of duties associated with water resource management and regulation.The typical duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:Review submittals and prepare written recommendations for complex civil and water resources related projects.Complete engineering analyses, calculations, and site investigations to support recommendations.Assume project management duties of permit application reviews for levees, dikes, flood control projects, drainage projects, water-related complaints and appeals, and other water resource determinations.Provide assistance, education, and outreach to the general public, political subdivisions, and other agencies, as well as engineering and legal professionals regarding North Dakota's water resource regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields or disciplines: water resources, civil, agricultural, environmental, or geotechnical engineering, or other closely associated field. *"A bachelor's degree in a closely associated field" requires qualification to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineer exam as outlined by the North Dakota State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Preferred Qualifications

Surface water hydrology and hydraulics experience. GIS experience including ArcGIS or other platforms.Water resource modeling skills. Engineer Intern (EI) certification.Experience working in a regulatory capacity.Public speaking experience.
