The Highway Maintenance Superintendent is crucial in coordination, planning, and budgeting the district maintenance program. As a vital member of our team, you will play a key role in the maintenance operations by identifying and prioritizing essential activities. Your insights will be crucial in supporting district administration as you contribute to the analysis of the budget, aiding in the determination of fund priorities. Your strategic planning skills will shine as you coordinate patching activities to optimize the utilization of contractor's hot plant operations within the district. Additionally, your responsibilities will extend to determining stockpile requirements and providing valuable input into shaping the district's maintenance program and equipment needs. Collaboration is key, and you will work seamlessly with the shop and sign shop teams when necessary, ensuring a seamless flow and continuity in district operations. Your role will extend to monitoring work performance, allowing you to provide valuable insights and recommendations for appropriate personnel actions and changes.Attention to detail is paramount as you assure the accuracy and timeliness of time sheets and other critical reports. Additionally, you will play a key role in upholding compliance with NDDOT and District policies and procedures, ensuring that our maintenance staff operates within the established guidelines.As a dedicated member of our team, you will play a role in overseeing the daily work activities of section supervisors and maintenance crews, including work schedules of district maintenance personnel. Your responsibilities extend to conducting thorough inspections of roadways, offering insightful recommendations for maintenance, and ensuring the upkeep of guardrails and signs. In times of emergencies, your role involves dispatching crews and equipment promptly, showcasing your ability to handle critical situations effectively.You will evaluate maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with established goals and objectives. Building and maintaining effective working relationships with department personnel, the public, and contractors is central to the success of this role. In the face of challenging weather conditions, you will take the lead in supervising major snow and ice control operations. You will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, responding promptly to emergencies and contributing to the overall resilience and efficiency of our operations.Ensuring a culture of safety and compliance, you will actively monitor safety violations and take decisive actions to address them. Your commitment to safety extends to organizing and leading regular safety meetings, as well as conducting thorough safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential risks. Upholding safety guidelines and promoting preventive maintenance practices will be a key focus, contributing to a secure and efficient work environment. Minimum Qualifications

Requires an associate degree in engineering technology and five years of highway experience; two years of the experience must have included supervision duties.Work experience performing highway maintenance activities may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.Requires work after hours, on weekends, and holidays during emergency events. Will be at times required to report to work within 30 minutes during emergency or storm situations.Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, medical screening, reference check and driving records check.
