Equipment Operator II

As an Equipment Operator, you will perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance. This includes operating heavy equipment to perform required maintenance duties like basic snow and ice control/removal. You will complete highway maintenance duties, which include assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining highway signs and guardrails. To complete these tasks and others assigned, you will operate power tools and other equipment to perform maintenance duties. Part of this job is to keep the roadways clear of any hazards, including litter, waste, debris, garbage, and carcasses.You will complete building and ground maintenance duties and general routine roadway and radio system equipment maintenance. You will also perform minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Maintain necessary paperwork, including time records, activity reporting, daily diary, road reports, etc. You will receive training and perform construction project duties under close supervision.An essential part of this position and the culture at the NDDOT is to maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your coworkers, and others.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid North Dakota Class A drivers license with air brakes with a cargo tanker endorsement by the first day of work.Two years of relevant experience.Requires reporting to work within 30 minutes, after hours, on weekends, and on holidays during emergency events. * If unable to find a candidate with preferred experience, will consider filling this position as an Equipment Operator I:Valid North Dakota Class A drivers permit or North Dakota Class B drivers license by the first day of work. The employee will have 12 months to obtain a North Dakota Class A drivers license with air brakes and cargo-tanker endorsement.Requires reporting to work within 30 minutes, after hours, on weekends, and holidays during emergency events.Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, medical screening, reference check, and driving records check.
