At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our TEAM and processes. As a Transportation Engineer III in the Programming Division, you will manage and maintain the NDDOT traffic control signal systems to ensure that traffic signal control systems are designed, constructed, and maintained properly to minimize fuel consumption, delay, and stops without having adverse effects on safety. This position also prepares traffic and operations studies, reviews and analyzes crash data, and reviews traffic studies, reports, and design plans. The ideal person for this position will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Primary duties associated with this position are as follows:Conduct traffic engineering and operations studies to improve overall intersections and corridor operations.Review and analyze crash data.Review complaints and requests related to traffic operations inside and outside of the NDDOT.Review and comment on traffic studies, reports, and design plans prepared by other within and outside the NDDOT.Manage and maintain the NDDOT traffic signal systems to ensure that traffic signal control systems are designed, constructed, and maintained properly to minimize fuel consumption, delay, and stops without having adverse effects on safety.

Minimum Qualifications

As our new Transportation Engineer III, you will need a bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, four years of professional-level engineering work experience, and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and reference check.
