Ward County Human Service Zone Child Welfare/Family Services Department serves to ensure the safety, permanency and well being of children and families in our community. Ward County Human Service Zone is seeking a Child Protective Services (CPS) Supervisor This position (51-5144) is responsible for supervision in the CPS unit including interpretation, implementation and review of the program policies, procedures and requirements in accordance with Federal and State Law. Organization of staff and assigning workload. Delegate responsibility to insure that all services are appropriately and efficiently delivered. Review case plans and affidavits ongoing to assure case plans and CFSR requirements are being met. Participate in ongoing inservices for staff development to update knowledge, skills and program requirements. Provide individual and group supervjsion and case consultation. Conduct staff meetings. Facilitate meetings and plan education opportunities for the team members. Consult, train and provide mentoring to the case managers. Complete written evaluations of staff and approve leave requests. Receive, evaluate and take action on staff grievances. This position maintains responsibilities of a highly complex and sensitive nature and requires a high degree of knowledge, skills and passion in child welfare. Work activities involve decision making within parameters of approved policies and procedures, thorough, accurate and timely responses as well as accurate documentation that complies with State and Federal Regulations. This position also requires coordination with local service providers, law enforcement and legal entities as well as emergency response planning. This position requires some after hours non-traditional working hours including on-call scheduling.Travel throughout Ward County is required.To succeed in this position you should have a passion for serving others and a desire to make a positive impact. You should be highly organized, able to manage your time and prioritize effectively and have demonstrated an ability to communicate with diverse populations. You will need to have a strong understanding of program policies and laws. You will also need to be comfortable working with all types of software and database applications with a willingness to learn new technology programs and have attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position you must have a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Service field and a minimum of 3 years related work experience in Child Protective Services. Prior work experience in a Human Service field must include at least one year of Supervisory or Lead Worker experience. Must have advanced ability to develop, interpret, and evaluate policies and procedures. Advanced ability to implement new systems and evaluate their effectiveness. Ability to solve program or service related problems; determine actions to be taken in unusual circumstances within parameters established by formal policy, procedures and standards. A high degree of interpersonal skill is required to be able to communicate with, motivate and/or change behavior of others in the satisfactory performance of duties and responsibilities. The successful applicant must pass a standard background, motor vehicle and criminal record check.Individuals may be required to work some non-traditional hours. Because this position requires some transportation of clients, a valid ND Driver's License is required and the employee must have their own automobile and adequate insurance.
