Water Resource Engineer II

The individual in this position will act as a Water Resource Engineer and will provide administration of the programs of the Department of Water Resource's Regulatory Division. The Engineer performs a wide variety of duties associated with water resource management and regulation.The typical duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:Review submittals and prepare written recommendations for complex civil and water resources related projects.Complete engineering analyses, calculations, and site investigations to support recommendations.Assume project management duties of permit application reviews for levees, dikes, flood control projects, drainage projects, water-related complaints and appeals, and other water resource determinations.Provide assistance, education, and outreach to the general public, political subdivisions, and other agencies, as well as engineering and legal professionals regarding North Dakota's water resource regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in one of the following fields or disciplines: water resources, civil, agricultural, environmental, or geotechnical engineering, or other closely associated field. *"A bachelor's degree in a closely associated field" requires qualification to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineer exam as outlined by the North Dakota State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Preferred Qualifications

Surface water hydrology and hydraulics experience. GIS experience including ArcGIS or other platforms.Water resource modeling skills. Engineer Intern (EI) certification.Experience working in a regulatory capacity.Public speaking experience.
