Career Description




Operate/interpret 5-cm digital Doppler weather radars equipped with IRIS and TITAN software and simultaneously direct multiple aircraft for cloud seeding operations. Identification of suitable clouds; clear communication with aircraft via two-way radio; operation of Windows, Mac, and Linux/Unix-based software; pilot briefings; meteorological record keeping; direction and supervision of intern meteorologists; supervision of chemical inventory; and assisting with radar calibrations and maintenance. Other duties include monitoring local weather conditions, interaction with National Weather Service personnel and the public, and data entry. The NDARB (North Dakota Atmospheric Resource Board) will conduct a pre-project ground school and orientation in Bismarck on May 29-31, 2024; all project personnel are required to attend. The field phase of the project begins at noon on June 1, 2024 and continues as weather dictates, 24-hours a day, seven days a week, through the project's conclusion on August 31, 2024. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts or Science in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or Related Field by the start of ground school on May 29, 2024.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with radar operation and short-term forecasting of deep convection; recent experience in operational convective cloud seeding.
